FOG ON THE HORIZON

I will have banners +more at Lovestruck Tattoo’s Friday the 13th / Valentine’s Day event. I’ll be there very early dropping off, but not during the event (I don’t need to be there lol). It’s Friday, February 13th!

Rambling About Nothing: Old Video Games

I decided I wanted to play a very specific game from the late 90’s that is nigh impossible to get your hands on anymore: Mega Man Legends.

It’s a super Ghibli-adjacent adventure game that has a bit of a cult following because the vibes are so pleasant. It’s low stakes and cute … borderline cozy.

There are thousands of words to write about retreating from horrible times into feel-good art, but I won’t.

Either way! To actually play the game, I had to dive into emulation - faking the hardware on a computer to believe it’s a Playstation from the 1990’s. Really, it was super simple; google this, download that, click these boxes.

It was great. You should download Duckstation (the emulation platform) and play Mega Man Legends.

Rambling About Nothing: The Olympics

I love the Olympics. I love not having to think about what to watch at night. I love obscure sports (sure, parallel slalom snowboard racing, why not).

It makes me curious about all the tiny little pockets of highly specialized people in the world.

Everyone’s fucking and I think that’s just nice.

Rambling About Nothing: Deer Meat

My friend gave me a lot of deer meat (and a little bit of bear meat(???)).

I like deer meat, my dad used to hunt. Hell, I used to hunt. But now I feel like some soft-right grifter talking about that.

“No, man. You gotta eat sustainably harvested game meat. It’s got like …nutrients! Jesse, bring up that article Robert Kennedy tweeted …”

I killed two deer in my life and hated it. It made me so, so sad. When I watch internet videos of animals, I cry. So I don’t know what made me think I could ever hunt.

That handicapped puppy Tiegan on the PuppyBowl, made me misty-eyed! How the fuck did I think “yeah, I’ll just kill this wild animal - this miracle! - and cut it apart and it won’t affect me one bit.” lol

Either way, it’s genuinely good and cool to hunt. I am just too much a fuckin pussy to do it.
