It feels more like a one-woman Broadway show than an album. It’s fun, massive, and catchy. Sometimes its a cigarette smoke filled jazz bar. Sometimes it casually slips in a Hans Zimmer feature (strong name drop). Sometimes it’s an utterly beautiful dedication to her grandfather. It’s never boring or still. Obviously, I love this one. The last song Fin. is mostly her just reading the album credits out loud and it makes me strangely emotional - like, I get misty-eyed hearing her earnest gratitude. — I’ve also been spinning Dem Goats by Juicy J and Project Pat. This album is straight out of the 2000’s, so if you are a 40 year old dude who years for the return of southern rap, the beacons are lit. I listen to it loudly in my car. Unc record of the year. — Aaaaaand the biggest record recently is - of course - Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. What can I say? It’s going to be huge, win some Grammys, be played on every commercial and in every store for months. She’s a massive star. I found myself thinking that it’s just a great 2010’s Taylor Swift record. But Olivia takes so many more risks and focuses so much more clearly than that. I love it, I think it’s her best work. Stupid song is amazing. She’s three-for-three on good records.
