FOG ON THE HORIZON

This is the last month before I shift into event prep. I have some customs to wrap up, but it feels like the Baltimore Tattoo Expo is barreling towards me at lightspeed.

FOG Skincare

I got kicked in the head last weekend, and their toenail(!!!) scratched a long cut on my forehead. It only bled a medium amount.

It will almost certainly turn into a short-lived scar because … toenails are exceedingly dirty. Fun times!

At least it wasn’t a ur butt.

FOG AOTY 2026

Nothin truly excellent yet. But lots - LOTS! - of really good stuff. As always, don’t use Spotify. But the links are provided there.

I’ve been digging the band Night of the Vampire - schlock-y, campy black metal almost indistinguishable from the other schlock-y, campy black metal band I liked in January, Cries of Agony. Their album is titled The Enchanting Winds of the Dreamweaving Masquerade and I think that’s just wonderful.

Obviously, Denzel Curry (THE SCYTHE). Obviously, Angel Du$t (COLD 2 THE TOUCH). Obviously, Charli XCX (Always Everywhere).

Surprised by the Danny L Harle album Cerulean. Really good collection of EDM and club. Two Hearts is a strong Song of the Year candidate.

URGH by Mandy, Indiana is also super good, but just makes me want to listen to Death Grips without a French woman.

Twisted Teens’ record Blame the Clown is maybe the frontrunner - but almost certainly will not stay there. Good album with a few great songs with amazing Americana production. Starting the record with Is It Real? is crazy though - the SOTY thus far.

And, hell yeah. Aperture by Harry Styles is a SOTY candidate for fuckin sure.

I just found out that Dale Hollow dropped a short, 5-song EP, Country Music King of Queens Volume 1, in late January. I’ve heard two of the songs already (they’re excellent) and will report back.

Yeah, okay. Throw another stripe on the tiger for Dale. Another great one.

Go listen to it, it’s 23 minutes long. His music is so ridiculously personable and genuine. Funny and knife-like at once. Easy AOTY inclusion. Remember When is amazing.

I saw him play DOG live and it was hilarious. He was also drafting his Fantasy basketball team live during his set. Praise Dale.

FOGcipies (title pending?)

I hate vegetables. I kind of like them, but I hate them. I’m sure that makes sense. Here is my favorite way to eat vegetables, where they are still maybe good for you.

Important note: I am genuinely a good cook. But I promise you, the more you fuck with this, inexplicably, the worse it gets. It makes no sense.

Don’t preheat, don’t season in steps, don’t build flavor. Throw everything in the pot as-is and walk away.

Freezer Spinach
(I realize that most recipes have pictures, but it was too late. I drew them for you)

• Take a small pot, chuck a bunch of frozen spinach in it. Throw it on your stovetop around medium-low.

• Chop some onion and garlic, throw that in there. Corn is nice too!

The Curious Case of Joe Minnick

Our neighbor has been gone since the new year. We are in a constant state of conspiracy-ing his absence. His car, wife, and four kids are still there, as if nothing is off.

“Did they get a divooooorce?”

“I bet he has a sick family member.”

“He’s definitely, one-hundred percent dead.”

Joe is normally always around. Too around for my wife’s taste. Always in the yard, puttering around with a loud tool or some shit like that. He has vanished.

“I bet the body’s in the storage thingy on top their SUV.”

“What if he’s like bed-ridden?”

“He’d still be out in the yard or something!”

They have an army of kids, and it’s weird to see them taking up the mantle and scepter of their wayward dad. The backpack leaf-blower. The two-wheeled snow blower. The lawn mower. Other blowers that I don’t know about.

“The leaf blower! He’s back. Nope, that’s just a kid.”

“Their TV hasn’t been on at nights! It was him staying up late, I guess.”

“She must be going IN-sane with all those kids by herself.”

And I think everything’s fine - he’s not dead right? But I cannot be sure.

How quickly would I announce my dead spouse to the neighbors? A month? Two, three? I wouldn’t be surprised if it just never organically came up.

“If they split up, he’d take the camper, right?”

“At least his car.”

“Yeah. His car hasn’t moved for a while.”

I always liked Joe. I’d text him when I needed someone with honest-to-goodness knowhow of home improvement. He’d snow-blow our sidewalk, and I’d leave a six pack of beer on his porch.

“You think he’s back in Alaska? Maybe on like a show, a survival thing.”

“Like ALONE?! He’d be pretty good at that, actually. Remember when he tried to spend a year on a sailboat with his whole-ass family?”

“I think Lindy ate him.”

And for now, there is no answer to the question we ask every, single day - where is Joe?! I run into their kids around the neighborhood - their one dogsits for us - and I can’t bring myself to ask them creepily where their dad is. It’s just feels too weird to ask a kid that, y’know?

“The garage door is OPEN!”

“There’s a weird kid by the fire pit.”

“That’s literally their kid. He looks like Lloyd Christmas now. Like … a lot.”
